Michigan Giclees - The Classic Collection
“The human need to relate with the natural world finds many outlets. For painters, the urge to capture nature’s intrigue is most compelling. With paint and canvas, confined to two dimensions, we set forth to capture that elusive beauty lavished upon us by nature. In Leelanau, I find a dazzling abundance of compositions from which to draw painting inspiration and a public of art conscious people drawn here by a mutual appreciation of the beauty of this land.” Gene Rantz, 2005

As the northern Michigan summer lengthens, the numerous wild flowers and weeds find their special time to blossom, glorifying the world for a spell then gradually fading away; the rhythm of the cycle constantly changing natures’s pallet; painting anew the colors of fields and roadsides. Here I was taken by the pastel blue flowers and the winding country lane disappearing over the distant hill.
I have a fascination with fields and meadows that have trails winding through them. This one is especially enticing with the assortment of weeds and wildflowers selected by nature’s singular hand forming gentle patterns of pink, yellow and blue across the earth. Gene Rantz
